Ello there im about to change a bulk head on my defender td,it looks to big a job for me and wondering how long it would take you more competant folk to do it??
the old bulk head is still on the car complete with dash everything ive got as far as taken the wings off thats it.
the bulkhead im fitting is new painted up but completely bare.
am i better off finding somebody else to do it thanks.

There int anything technical about it at all. If you can take the wings off you can do the rest, the wiring looks a bit worrying but if you take a load of photographs and label the connectors you shouldn't have any trouble. I reckon if you were to set your stall out and go like fook you could get it done in a long weekend, It all depends on what you discover along the way. I don't see the point in rushing so decided to take a couple of months over it, then decided to get a new chassis so that adds a couple of months onto the job. haven't a clue wot it'd cost to pay someone to do it though.

If you've got a Td5 bulkhead to fit onto a 2.5 turbo model then you'll have to modify it a bit but it int nowt you cant do with a drill a angle grinder and an hacksaw.

thanks grunt its about the biggest job ive had to do on a landy and not looking forward to it at all.:D
its the loom/wiring and dash thats really putting me off but its got to be done so as soon as we have a break in the weather i,ll crack on.
thanks for the advice;)
green the defender had a bad roll and twisted the bulkhead on top of that its rotten sorry.

Dash is easy enough just a matter of self tappers, There are two self tappers hiding behind the plastic tray thing. The wiring does look a bit worrying but if you label the connector blocks you shunt have any bother.
