New to the pleasures of owning a Land Rover, and i have purchased a 1989 Defender 2.5. My question is, How difficult is it to replace the Bulkhead???? and what is involved. This is pretty rottern all over and could ideally do with been replaced. I myself am pretty mechanicaly minded and my friends who i hope will help me are mechanics themselves, but have never worked on Land Rovers. Also on my reg doc it states it is a 1989 however i read they did not introduce the Defender to 1990 can someone explain this??? or am i just been thick?????:D

It'll be a Ninety with the 2.5 N/A diesel or the 2.5TD (same as my edith)

I'm currently doing the same, as part of a rebuild. As I investigated further everything that held everything to everything was rusty and siezed, which is making it so much harder than the Haynes restoration manual would suggest!

Take lots of photos before and try to take things off in as whole and combined lumps as possible. I keepgetting furious with it and hitting it with hammers as it's very frustrating, as everything you think will be salvageable isn't.

In theory though it's pretty straightforward apart from the siezed parts unless yuo start doing non-standard stuff.
