Good morning, or afternoon as the case may be.

I have recently purchased a 92 Classic with a five speed box and a Borg Warner Transfer Box. The Transfer Box has a problem.

My question is, can you fit an lt230 transfer case into the 92 Classic in place of the Borg Warner case. I appreciate that their are some minor modifications to be made, but I like the idea of being able to manually change your diff lock.

Any constructive ideas would be welcome.

Thanks in advance
Brian

whats the problem they usually only suffer viscous coupling seizing or rear output shaft wear ,but youd need front prop ,rh mount ,linkage and lever assembly for hi/low diff lock

The only problem the existing one has is that the Chain is obviously stretched. I can replace it and in fact have another gear box. Im probably a bit old school, but I do like the idea of being able to manually engage the Diff Lock. So basically is was just a question as to whether it would fit.

Cheers
Brian

what symptoms as output shaft can give clunks ,viscous coupling advantage is diff lock while still een ale to steer a bonus in ice ,snow etc

Hello,i have a question, i have looked in my RRC 1990 transfer box, and the oil is very dirty i have over 300,000 miles and i dont know when was the last oil change it is to dirty so it could be a long time, my question is, if it is possible when i change the transfer box oil with new ATF will this worn out the Transfer box? like in the case of the automatic transmission sometimes the old oil keep it running and when you change it starts to slip and so on.

yes as far as i know you can swap bw with lt230..

and..what ****ing snow??austrailia...

Well i just found out that my transfer box Borg Warner Model 1361004 has gear oil, i have checked the manual and recommended ATF so what you guys suggest replace the old oil with same type gear oil or change to ATF (i could only think, in the past somebody put gear oil by mistake confusing with the LT230)
