Change Engine

Can anybody Help. I have a 1986 110 county with a 2.5 petrol engine that is knackered. I also have a daihatsu fourtrak 2.5 diesel whose engine is good but the gearbox has gone. I have seen advertised Landies with the daihatsu engine fitted, is this possible and as i am not much of a mechanic would it be possible for me to do. Anybody no of any publications or websites to help me? Thanks

We took out a similar engine and put in a v8. It isn't that hard but it might be trickey trying to sort the mounts as they may change

there are plenty of daihatsu diesel engined landys about. so the swap must be fairly easy. i admit that i dont really know which gearbox is used. although i suspect its the daihatsu one.
its generally easier to swap the whole package and modify the propshaft to suit.
