Centre air vent removal

I can't work out how to remove the centre air vent. Something is catching inside when I move the open/close slider all the way down and the direction part also moves down a little.

This is for a FL 1 facelift.

they can be pulled out with care try putting a knife down the side I am sure they just clip in

On my MX5 I had to thread some string through it and pull them out. Maybe a similar setup? Don't blame me if half the dashboards comes with it...
