Newbie here, suppose I need to cancel my registration from the Jeep Cherokee forums now I have bought a P38.

Had a few issues, 02 sensors etc which I have sorted, but now have developed a problem with the central locking.

Everything was working as it should with the remote until this morning when I unlocked it but couldn't open the boot. I pressed the unlock again but still couldn't open it. Went to drivers RHD and it was locked, same with rear RHD. I used the key which unlocked everything apart from the rear RHD.

The remote opens the front passenger LHD and rear door fine.

I have checked the fuses F9 & F22 , both are fine. I have inspected the wiring in the front RHD, everything seems to be plugged in ok.

I have read posts regarding actuators, door posts and the becm, where do I start ?

Any help would be greatfuly appreciated

You pressed the unlock again??

Oh dear.....

With a P38 as soon as a fault becomes apparent it's vitally important to place the keys gently and quietly on the ground and back away slowly. If you reach a safe distance, run, don't look back.

On no account be tempted to retrieve your wallet.....it's now useless anyway

BTW :welcome:

Think one of the others might be able to advise on that one. Never had an issue with my boot (yet!) but I know many others have.

The remote opens the front passenger LHD and rear door fine.

So, fob opens left hand side but not right hand side. The key is mechanically connected when you used the key so that doesn't prove a lot. I'd start with what's cheapest (connections at door posts etc) before I start spending but that's my budget.

If you get in the car, unlock all doors and then lock the front left, do all locks lock? If RHS still not responding then either the signal isn't getting through or the lock actuator motors are probably burnt out.

Also, you'd best check the RF receiver unit under the top of the rear right parcel shelf. Google it and you'll see shed loads. Make sure it has a green dot and 2 circuit boards inside at right-angles to each other. If it isn't like that then get one like it before the rest of your locks go.

I'd have a look at the microswitch in the drivers door lock, that tells the becm the lock has been opened and to open the drivers side and boot. The passenger side is controlled by the door outstation.

:welcome2:
