what year P38?? this is a TOTAL stab in the dark here but i think its possible you need to re-synch the key with the BeCM. when you re-attached the battery did the vehicle lock?? if so once you unlocked it did the red flashing light go off on the dash to indicate the alarm had been de-activated?? if not try what i did when i got a new spare/replacement key from LR the other day (they wanted to charge me £60 to do what im about to say). Stick the key in the drivers door lock and lock the vehicle by turning to the left. Then unlock the vehicle. Take the key out and try the remote again and see if it locks/unlocks the car. If it still doesnt try the same similar procedure listed here. it really might just be as simple as re-synching the key to the car. What i said above worked for me with my new key.

Let us know how you got on

have you tried disconnecting the battery again and then reconnecting and then seeing what happens?? if you still have no joy and nobody else answers here i would try posting over at rangerovers.net as there are some pretty helpful people over there who know alot more about the P38 than me, lol

Probably the BeCM and the immobiliser are out of synch. There is a square wave signal sent to the immob from the BeCM to tell it to disable, it is not uncommon for it to get screwed up when the battery dies. You probably need to get it down to a garage with Testbook to get it all reset. Probably a recovery truck job I'm afraid.

Windows might not work because the anti-trap needs resetting - I'm not sure but you might not be able to operate them until you have started the vehicle.

sorted it ! took door latch out from door and stripped it down , i found a microswitch sticking so i messed about with it and greased all moving parts in the lock , put it back in and hey presto the EKA code worked a treat !! if anyone wants any info on what i did then let me know.
