All of the above, the main dealers as I said should really be a last resort, i had to use one after myself and two key programming specialists failed to mobilise a TD6 with half bmw and half JLR electronics which they did for me, your own hand first and then indies is the only way forward.
did you try this ? They can be a little comical sometimes and their cameraman i believe is also a keen unicyclist that he practices while filming.

They also mention a BCU reset in another of their videos.

This is from Rave, check it is the same for the later JLR vehicles.

Anyone done this 'Hard reset' before ?
Aparently it resets the BCM and ECU which could clear any uncleared faults ? Or maybe this secret diagnostic menu thing on the satnav ?
Please forgive me if this is all rookie junk

So I was right about RSW not covering all years, the info is sticking to the little grey cells then:D
Ah yeh mine too new for that diagnostic I think, there is a few options as far as I can see, the icar o e mentioned earlier is £98 on ebay and appears to do all the same stuff but I'm just hesitant when something comes from eBay haha

Just been watching that online too just as you posted, I'm gonna give it a whirl and see what blows up

If you go for the icarsoft then there are a few types, check with these guys to make sure you get the best you can afford but also consider the GAP.

Local independent may have reviews online but worth talking to them to sound them out

Thanks mate appreciate all the info, the dealer closest to me is well known for being very expensive but I suppose as you say they are the best people ultimately for the job.
I'm going to call and book a slot for diagnostics today and explain it's the same fault they are supposed to have repaired and fingers crossed it will be done for free.
Your all extremely helpful and all the advice is greatly appreciated.
Andy
I would dispute the statement that the dealer's are the best people for the job, just the dearest, is there not a good independent local
