Guys,

Ever since i had my freelander, the drivers door has locked on the remote, but had to use the key to unlock.. Last week, the passenger front door has done the same.. So now when i unlock my car with the remote, its only both back doors that unlock.

Ive read its faulty solonoids. Can someone on here tell me where to pick them up, and if it is a tricky job to do yourself?

Cheers:D

Mines the same. First the drivers door went & now the passenger door. Drivers door latches are very rare secondhand, I picked one up off ebay a while ago & it was about £35. Passenger oners seem to be more commonly available used.
As for new, Famous Four do them

Famous Four - New Parts for Freelander 1998-2006 Models - Body

Haven't fitted mine yet but I'm led to believe that they are simple enough to do but just a little tricky to manoevre them in & out of position.

I changed two on my 3 dr a year or so ago. I picked them up second hand from one of the parts places on the net. They were a bit tricky but not too difficult.
Word of warning -make sure you replace the plastic membrane and repair any tears or damp air comes through the speaker grilles and rusts them!

must be something in the air as ive got to do my passenger central locking motor as well

thanks about the advice about the plastic tony as mine teared and i havent replaced it with anything as of yet, did you buy a tailered made piece of plastic or can you get it on a large sheet etc.

thanks

al the best

Having the same issue - seen some stuff about replacing with a maplins servo but it all seems pointless when you can replace with another part for £35. I've personally opted for a new one and i'll be getting a passenger side one soon as well probably. Surprisingly simple to do except removing the door handle, which is an absolute pig and will cause much consternation.

Use a small length of rag and wrap it between door and handle, pull it up and down a couple of times and the clip pops out, I mean pops out so be ready to catch it!
