Hi,

I have done a search but not found any threads that are a perfect match, so here goes...

I recently replaced all the speakers in my wife's Freelander 1 (all of the coils were held in place by rust, so no wonder there wasn't much volume!) and removed the Harnon Kandon (?sp) amp from under the passenger seat (it had lost a channel).

Now the head-unit doesn't seem to recognise the CD changer. The wires in the connector at the rear of the head unit seem OK and disappear into a loom. All the connectors seem OK at the CD changer.

I can hear the CD being loaded and the cartridge ejects OK but only the 'SCD' is available on the head unit.

Pulling out the fuses and replacing them didn't help. No errors are displayed.

Do I need to 'marry' the head unit and the CD changer (or pay a main stealer to do this)?

Does anyone know whether the connection between the two units goes through the two connectors that were plugged into the back of the amp and are now unconnected?

The same CD gets boring after a while - especially when it is the choice of my children who for some strange reason object to Radio 4.

Thanks
Hugh

sounds like something might have been routed through the amp ? what happens if you reconnect the amp ? does the multi changer start working again ?

when I fitted my (factory fit kit) cd changer, there were wires in the loom which have to be diverted for it to work, maybe the same with the amp.

good luck though.

ihave just chsnged head unit i have the tape head cdchanger under seat but now magazine your welcome to try them

f*ck, that is a drastic solution to a simple problem ! Now all we have to do is wait for the "I've just bought a freelander and the multichanger doesn't work" post from a newbie...

It wasn't the CD changer that caused her to sell it - the bag of mint imperials in the cup holder ran out...
