Ive seen many people use laptops and GPS on greenlaning days none of which have solid state discs. A dedicated car PC is cheaper to buy than a laptop and is designed to work with your cars electrics. I've seen a few people have these now, they work very well with a touch screen.
If you got an old laptop then use that, no problem. but if you are in the market for a new one and want it for your landy as a nav computer then there are alternatives to laptops to consider.
SSD's are very expensive and dont have the capacity as yet, but then the Landy itself is more likely to let you down than a failed hard drive.
