CB Radio Live

Have a CB Radio etc ready to fit.

I had problems with my battery etc and stuff running it down so i have a complete cut off switch now because i dont use it every day and saves the battery!

The question i have is this: Ive been told a CB should have a constant live BUT is that only because i would have to get onto the right channel everytime i use it or is there more to it? Does it need setting up everytime or something?

I was thinking of using a cig lighter just to put it in as and when i wanted it. ANd then it would share the power from the radio as i wouldnt want the radio on when using the CB and visa versa!

So what im asking is if i dont have a constant live - do i need to rest it everytime or would it just be a simple turn to the correct channel as the rest is standard.

No constant live required.

The unit is pretuned for channels.

You may lose whichever channel you were last on, but's that's it

thanks Strange_days i have no problems with loosing the channel because at the end of the day i want it as healthy battery as possible when i go to go out in it! Its only a toy so can sit for a week -3weeks without moving so i need it tip top. Ive already for a Radio which is old fashion dial version so that it wont loose the station

just wondering also the connection i use to say the cig lighter i wont need to put a fuse line in would i? just use the Cig Lighter fuse

Great stuff so an inline fuse to my Cig lighter connection! Cheers chaps thats ace! just need a soldering iron now

Or just use a cig lighter plug that is fused, no inline required then.

your rig will only work with the ignition on though

that works with me ryder! even if the landy is running when i can use it! and in fairness you say only with the ignition on! My thing seems to have electric in places whether ignition is on or not! Horn / LIghts etc mainbeem work without ignition.

a radio or CB needs to be protected by a low amp fuse a cig lighter can be 20 amp or higher

Lol you plum. Look at thunder pole I got second hand cb off eBay the brought rest total cost will be 35quid

only buy one if your mate gets one, other wise its lonely
