Been looking into getting panels on the S2 dipped to get back to bare ali, been told by some its Ok, spoke to a company yesterday and they said its not Ok. Anyone had this done?

Do not dip Aluminium in Caustic soda, Al. is an acidic metal and the reaction will be similar to mixing baking powder and vinegar. I have seen someone try to de-coke the cylinder head of a Triumph motorcycle in a caustic tank and all he managed to find afterwards were the valve guides. You would need an acid based stripper and even then I would be very wary as Al. is easily corroded.

It is indeed ****e, I used it to get paint off chequer plate. Even after working it into every nook and cranny and scrubbing it with a wire brush and scotchbrite there was still paint left
