Carpeting a 90

before you all give me the speel about water retention is carpets I am aware!


Can someone give me a rough size of carpet needed to do a 90 front and back (footwell, seatboxes and floor)

Tape measure is your friend

Just measure the width its called a defender 90 lol
you might want a tad more incase you make a moo of it say 110" or 130"

And don't forget to allow for the flower pattern repeating around the joins.

Why not buy a ready made set, saves a load of work and fits perfectly

When I was looking for a carpet set for mine the cheapest I could find was around 200 quid just for the front
I ended up buying a roll for 50 quid & made a set

I have a mate from Glasgow, he says it never rains there.

As long as it’s not glued down I don’t see what’s wrong with a bit of carpet. It’s not like we all go wading in our Landies and some of ours are surprisingly leak-free!
Personally I’d fork out for a properly made set and use some Velcro strips to keep it in position, but also allows for it to be removed for periodical cleaning (both of the carpet and the Landy floor).

It's more the lack of sound deadening properties that I'm concerned about.

Soak them with water to absorb the vibrations!

You would be better with a mat from glasgow that lets the water run through.

Forget the carpets, stable matting is the way to go - good for sound deadening, cheap and pretty much indestructible.

Just had a look at stable matting on Amazon, there's all sorts, which type do you recommend?

It is possible to waterproof a Landy

My 110 carpets have stayed dry even in this rain.
But it’s taken me literally years of chasing leaks.
The last one was water getting in via the bottom of the rear doors.
I traced it to the rear corner of the small oblong window, where the outer door “seal” ends. Water would run in to the door, down the back, and on to the carpet.
A bit of sealing compound fixed it.

Pfft drill holes in the floor that'll expell the excess water

Nowt wrong with a bit of carpet mine does not leak....... it lives in the garage

I use 6mm stable matting in the rear of the Hicap & made front mats.
Easy to wash & hard wearing BUT kin heavy.
