Does anyone know if the SU carbs AUD 521 AND AUD 527 are interchangeable? It looks like the 527’s have something extra on the side of them.

I will be replacing them both in pairs but don’t want to end up with running problems. Its for my 1972 RRC with 3.5 v8.

Is the extra lump on the side of the 527’s auto choke or summit?

All info asap would be appreciated :D

The thing on the side of the 527 will be a stepper motor.

The 521 is an HS6 with a BBG needle
I'm checking the 527 but not sure what it came off, you may be able just to swap needles as the jets are mainly the same

soz , need an answer quick!

What vehicle are your newer carbs off. I can cross reference them for you although I cant find AUD527 in the SU manual so check that the numbers are corrrect.

I dont know and I couldnt find the number either lol

If they have a motor on the side then they will be the later HIF44 electronic choke carbs I think so maybe you will have to convert them to manual choke.

If float bowls under carb on both sets then the needles will swap as the jets will be the same as long as choke size is the same.

All jets on similar sized carbs are the same they just used different needles for different applications.

aparantly the bits on the side were fuel resovires, like the sd1 ones.

I managed to get them for £17 and £15 shipping so I think I wont lose too much :D

I just need to get them proffesionally refurbished somewhere now and then put them on and get the other set done to be in reserve.

You can buy all the bits from Burlen Fuel Systems Ltd

as long as the damper pistons are not worn then it's just jets and needles

They are prob HS6 carbs then. Still good carbs for the job
