Hi,

Don't know whats happened here but here goes. Our rear near side window was sticking so garage replaced a regulator today so now working when wife drove home.
I arrived home -we had ordered a spare key fob case & battery as our old fob button were worn. I removed the circuit board from inside the old fob & placed in new but didnt unlock the car as the two small orange buttons are worn though so still have to manually unlock the car.

NOW THE PROBLEM - tried to start the car, engine turned initally then flat on 2nd turn - dont know whether there is a short from the aforementioned garage changing the electric window regulator OR the car battery has had its day due to the the cold weather thats just hit is or lastly by me changing the fob battery has killed the car.
The car will start with jump leads. Go for a drive for say 5 miles. stop the car then try to restart, doesnt want to know.

Would check the alternator is working ok first ...theres even a fuse for this that you could check in the engine bay fuse box ...FL6 120A

brill will do that, it cannot be my fob though as getting grief from the wife- that is to just unlock the door!

If there was a short from your new window electrickery then that would just blow the corresponding fuse.

You have just replaced the gubbings from your old fob into a new fob and I assume that you are using the original key (transponder?) if so this entire process should not affect anything to do with your FL not starting.

So check your belt tension on the alternator, fuse, battery terminals are nice and tight, any of these could cause a flat battery ...next charge up the battery if you have a charger handy...does it charge up? if not its a dead battery, if the battery charges up then try and start the car ...if it starts up but it happens again then its probaly the alternator that is not charging the battery - the battery will drain again... when you get it started just go to a garage to get your alternator and battery checked or get a mobile mechanic to come to you ;)

It does sound like either battery or alternator. Where abouts are you? Maybe someone could pop round with a multimeter and check it for you.
