For cars registered from March 2001 onward (Y reg) tax is based on emissions in various bands. The existing highest band for petrol engines went up from around £170 to £195 and they introduced a new band for high emissions vehicles registered after March 2006 who pay around £225.

Older cars based on engine size came off well as did my 2002 Golf TDI - the tax on this went down by £5 to £110 for the year:D

ffs, RFL is such a miniscule part of the total cost of running a car, who cares!?

Bit tough on a newbie....LOL

I just got back from holiday on Sat' and my mate said you'll be happy with ole Gordon Brown...While you were away he has increased your RFL to £300.00

So I looked into it and as others have said my 1997 disco does not come into the new taxes. But When you are not working and on a small pension £300.00 would have been a lot to me!

I do most my own servicing and do less than 5K a year so I would have been well pi$$ed off to pay £300.00 for little use of the vehicle.

I pollute the country with my Harley 1450cc most the time....LOL
