listen suew,it is really easy to do,just look at the wiring on the radio then see if the wiring on the landy matches up.

At least it cant be as complicated as the diagram nrgserv made me learn for the spotlights. Relays, wires from the full beam, wires from the switches, wires to the battery, wires to the lights

well if you can do that you can wire in a radio, just make sure you connect the correct wires together.:D

Well I have successfully taken it in bits :D

OK with the red wire, I think thats the live.

The black wire coming out somewhere totally different I can only assume is the earth

What is really confusing is why the brown wire coming out of the radio is then joined to two black wires. I am thinking they are speaker wires but why join two to the brown.:confused:

The result of this is that whoever wired it obviously didn't do it properly. My daughter has one she took out of her car somewhere, if the wires are the same colour as the ones on mine then I might get one and try to fit it.

Also the old one has never worked properly. Dont know if its the radio itself or the wiring. How do I test the wires

I think this is a bit beyond me, but at least I did try. Shame about the mess and loose wires in the Landy now :eek:

How old is your Land Rover?

Definately given up now. Had a look at the radio which came out of my daughters car and it doesn't have wires, just somewhere for a plug to go.

Might have known it wouldn't be easy :eek:

the newer radio's have a din socket fitted to them, that means it can have the corresponding socket fitted either on to the wiring or in the radio cage built into the car.

I had a look at the plugs, they have loads of wires, far more than my Landy has. Wouldn't know which to connect

thats the trouble with newer radio's,they need more live feeds etc to make them work.either get a sparks to wire it in,or at least someone who knows what they are doing.or buy a cheap radio that only has basic wiring.loads on ebay etc.

Your lucky. My radio was proper bodged in using a household connector block. Got to make up a new din connection before i can fit my new one...

No, not lucky, the plugs I looked at were on the internet, not in my Landy :D

It has a red wire with some 3 different plastic bits (fuses or something) in the wire

One brown wire that joins to two black wires which go off somewhere.

I think the other might have been green but forgotten whether that joined to a green

Then the random black on which came out somewhere else and the aerial ( recognised that :D)

So basically I know what 2 of the wires do, not a good basis for continuing with this job :D

Yep, wonder if nrgserve will be on later  Its embarrasing, I expected it to be an easy job.

Sent him a PM, no doubt he will think this is funny :D :D
