Firstly, I'm new here, so apologise if this is in the wrong section, and ask that a mod move it to wherever it should be. Secondly, please accept my apologies for my Landy ignorance - I'm posting on behalf of the missus, who doesn't believe in the power of the internet and associated forums....

Her '52 plate TD5 Discovery has developed a fault whereby occasionally (normally early mornings / late at night!) the key fob (both keys) doesn't unlock the car. Using the key in the door lock works, but sets the alarm off (which the neighbours love!). You can then get in and start the car as normal (I think - personally I tend to try and get it over with as quickly as possible to keep the peace, so it may be a matter of pressing buttons etc!). The dash lights flash, but not very brightly - similarly to a bulb on a battery, they more flicker, if that makes sense. I've done a search and can find similar issues concerning water egress intothe electrics somewhere or another, although other posts detailed other faults too (which we haven't had - yet). Thoughts? Water in the electrics? Dodgy connection somewhere? Duff batteries either in the car or in the fobs? It has been into a Landy specialist in the Midlands, who couldn't find any fault.

Thanks ladies and gents!

May be dodgy connection. I bought a new TD5 Disco in 2002.Day after same problem as yours,no fault showing on testing equipment, doors opening with key but not fob buttons. Problem was intermitant ,it took eight months to find cause ,which was a loose connection on the receiver in the roof. hope this helps

Cheers Blackdog - the roof lining was removed a while ago cos it was leaking. I think that's where we'll start to look.

Thanks!
