Just wondering if any1 can help me.

I have a series 3 with a weber carb (The carb was new in 2004 but the landrover was stood still for about 3/4 years before i got it started again)

The choke seems to work fine but i cant get the mixture right, i have had it on the emissions machine to try and get it right but one min its really high the next its too low? so when try it with no choke it obviously cuts out. I have been told i might need a new carb or the fuel pump might not be pumping enough fuel?

I was just wondering if any1 has had the same problem?

Thank you

I've had loads of fueling problems on mine, caused by vapour lock. I've re-routed the fuel line and that sorted much of the trouble. I added a return through a tight pinch to allow vapour back to the tank. I suspect though that the lift pump lobe is worn in the engine as it is pretty weedy so a future job is to fit a leccy pump

Anyway first up checks:
pickup filter in fuel tank....mine was rusted up quite badly
sediment bowl on lift pump, check seal also
Inline fuel filters - replace
Carb input filter (available as part of carb refurb kit...be careful when you refit or you will twist it and it won't then be a filter!)

Next up (this is point I'm up to) is to re do the inlet manifold gaskets and seals. My mixture is right most of the time but a bit lean on tick over which suggests a leak to me.

I'm just using a colortune myself...

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Dom
