Got a strange alarm problem on my project P38 1998 GEMS. Car locks & unlocks on FOB ok, and runs ok, but the damn alarm is going off whenever the ignition is in position 3 (with or without engine running). Battery was a little low, but turned engine over & started first time. (gonna charge it overnight just in case).

Tried EKA and all the other key sync options. Don't think this can be the problem because the FOB works correctly. Door latch microswitches are all working & show up correctly in Nanocom BECM Input Menu. RF diags also shows Valid Code Received.

Any ideas on how to reset the alarm ?

Unplug the sounder. If it's a BBUS unit, it has an internal battery, it may be that the battery has failed. any messages on the dash?
Otherwise you need to check that the ultra sonic sensors above the B post passenger side are OK.
Locking with the FOB and unlocking with the key and vice versa will cause the alarm to sound.

No messages on dash. Thought about unplugging it, but had a BBUS problem on the other P38 a few years back. Unplugging it didn't stop it !!

Will try it later this week though (probably no time until Thurs).

Strange thing is it also happened a few weeks ago when I moved the car to do the ball joints & steering rods. I was able to reset it with the FOB that time, but can't remember exactly what I did !!
