So OK, i've got my 200 Tdi Disco and my Focus TDCi, can i just go fill em with bio or do i need to prep or change anything? also can i swap back, or swap and change fuels as i feel fit. We got a Bio station 'tween Cannock and Stafford, but only one as far as i know...

I have been using it in my 200tdi for over a year now, when you start you should change the fuel filter after a few fill ups then its fine. I have swaped back when I have been unable to get more and then back no problem.

I think you can, but I have not tried it. There is a website somewhere that tells you all about diesel engines and bio, but I don't know what the site is.

bio diesel is good for the landy but the focus might not run very well due to sort of pump it has fitted. all you need to do for the landy is fill it up! after a while you may find that the engine starts to run a bit "flat" and so all you do is change the fuel filter because bio-diesel is an excellent cleaning agent and cleans all the **** out of your tank and fuel lines thus clogging up your fuel filter. after you have changed the filter everything should be good.

Biodiesel wasn't that much cheaper last time I checked. I haven't got a Morrisons round here though so not sure if it's gone down a lot.

I was talking with someone down't pub last night - they said you can stick vege oil straight in (obviously while paying the correct duty to the government...) and it works but I'm sure I saw a program on TV and you need to mix it up with methanol for a normal diesel to run on it?

Scrap that, just found another link:

Straight vegetable oil as diesel fuel: Journey to Forever

ave you been living underground for the last 2 years ?

ive been using veg oil mixt with a little diesal for two years now it makes it go better just add a little more diesal when it colder

i was using neat rapeseed oil until people starting to tell me that neat veg oil would eventually "gum up" the piston rings and wreck the engine. dont know how true it is so i have started to use bio-diesel which is only 70p a litre compared to £18 for 20ltrs of cooking oil.

You can use bio in ur 200tdi, ford are unsure about it just now as they are not sure if it's any better for ur engine, £18 for 20 litres is quite dear, i can get 20 litres for £15.45.

the quick and easy answer is yes you can.......the reason ford etc dont give an answer is because theyve never tested and therfore cannot say'yes'officially for liability issues so youl never get a straight answer
just by the way biodiesel is made(not going into that here)involving other chemicals means they may/maynot have issues with fuel line deteriation ext....so in other words yes some people use it...indeed some including myself have made their own 'brew' or simply even used just 'straight'veg oil.......the choice is yours
