Can you help ?

Hi my series clutch went last night... ,has anybody got any idears on what could of gone ....the pedal seems to have no compression apart from the spring....also the pedal only has abour 2/3 travel and now comes to a dead stop at this point......just before this happend had a funny smell from somewhere and there was a sound of somthing breaking?
Whats the best place to start my inspections etc.....cheers bryan

without wishing to state the obvious..... but I will

just before this happend had a funny smell from somewhere - sounds like ya clutch plate has given up - yu are smelling the clutch burning.

there was a sound of somthing breaking - clutch plate or clutch mechanism

start yo inspections with the clutchh slave cylinder then gearbox or injun out to look at the clutch

More info pleases series??? 2 or 3,
(S2) it sounds like either like the mechanism from the clutch slave has broken and pushing on your pedal has forced the clutch slave cylinder to the end of its stroke and gone solid.

S3, your clutch release bearing has collapsed or the clutch cover has broken and the clutch release bearing has been pushed through the cover. It’s unlikely for a worn driven plate to cause your hydraulics to lock up.

Remove the floor covers and gear stick and have a look at the release bearing through the hole.
