Can you fit the rear crossmember from a defender onto a D1?

:)Hi all, this is my first post but have been lurking the sit'd for quite some time. This question may have already been asked but I've searched extensively and found nothing... so yeah I've been completely redoing my discos body as it has been taken over by ruSt. I'm almost finished with the entire boot floor and have got to the rear crossmember and it's shot along with the body mounts. I'm wondering if I can fit a defender 1 on there and if so how hard is it to do? I'm still not the best with a welder and I'm definitely still a novice but just need a bit of advice :)

Thanks in advance

Wouldn't have though so as they are completely different.
I've just fitted a YRM cross member which is very well made and fits perfectly. Costs a bit more than the others advertised but worth it.

It's possible to weld it on, it's only metal. But a Disco body won't attach to the a Defender crossmember.

I like the idea, shame you have already done the work to the body. I have been toying with a tray back or pickup disco so might look into this idea. I problem is getting a defender tub to fit on a 100" dont really have the tools to cut a 110 tub or extend a 90".
