I'm looking to buy a Range Rover - ex demo or low mileage up to 2 years old. I'm very fussy about the spec. It has to be a 4.4 diesel V8 as well. I've never owned a V8 car and I'm bloody well going to have one before I die, or before diesels become illegal, whichever comes first.
I've seen a beauty - it's a special colour called "Windward Grey" and it's got everything I like on it, right down the the tan leather interior - which I think is superb. Except...it's got one of those "fixed panoramic" sun roofs - and I'm not a fan of them.
I like to be able to open the sunroof, to let a bit of fresh air in. OK so this is mainly just in summer, but the idea of having a huge glass roof that you can't open in summer just seems wrong to me. And I reckon things could get pretty hot in a big car like that with what is effectively a big glass window above your head.
So, I'm wondering how easy it is to have the fixed panoramic taken out and the standard sliding sun roof put in its place? I know in this day and age anything is possible. So I'm pretty sure that it's technically possible, although I don't know if they are the same size? If so then I'd imagine it's just a case of installing the wiring and switches for the sliding roof? But, I've no idea what that would cost?
Anyone got any clue?
Maybe I'm best off just forgetting this car and waiting till one with the right spec comes up?
