Latest ones do think the earlier ones didnt.
The interesting thing here is from all the reading I have done and from personal experience I have not come across any issues except with the cooling system.
The first engine had a slipped liner after a major overheat which came about because of a hole in the by pass line from top of rad to expansion tank. New engine good for a few years then boiled because of orings letting air in and my stupidity I rebuilt the engine in November put the new liner in etc etc failed HG again last week and again it was cooling system this time radiator and my stupidity again I never replaced it - should have so in my opinion its not the block that needs the focus its the cooling system.
If you look at the coolant level if the orings leyt by or the top of rad lets by the coolant level weeps away to below the heads in my opinion the cooling system is king

I agree. If you keep on top of the cooling system then they do seem to be ok. Of course as soon as it does overheat there seems to be no end of problems.
