Can anyone identify this adapter plate?

I recently bought a replacement LT95 gearbox, which after fighting it into place turned out to be 150-odd kg of scrap metal  It arrived fitted with an adapter plate for a different engine (mine sits behind a 3.5 V8). The seller originally said to me that he wasn't sure whether I needed the adapter or not, but if not, he would pay for me to return it to him. Notwithstanding the knackered box he sent me, I'm a decent sort so I still telephoned him and offered to return it, hoping that when I told him that the box was no good, he might offer me something back. He didn't, and he has ignored my emails (still) offering to send him the adapter back.

So, maybe I can sell this plate and recoup some of my outlay. I've seen adapter plates on "a well known online auction site" going for £150 or more, but clearly I can't list it without knowing what it is! I vaguely recall him saying that the gearbox came out of an RR Classic with a diesel engine, *possibly* a Perkins but maybe something else.

I can't find any reference number stamped or moulded on it anywhere. If any of you recognise the adapter from the pictures below, I'd really appreciate it. It has a moulding for the starter on one edge, and the clutch release mouding on the opposite side, as with the standard LT95 box.

Thanks a lot gents!

No expert on these things so I am more than likely talking b*ll*x / have misunderstood your post but that looks like an adapter plate for the bell housing to engine interface rather than the bell housing to gearbox interface. Have you tried taking the bell housing off your old box and seeing if that will fit onto the new gearbox?

If you don't have the old bell housing, I have one that you are welcome to for a few beer tokens. That fitted the 3.5V8 to the LT85 box (to be fair I've never heard of the LT95 box but see my opening line...).

Thanks guys. To clarify, I have a 90 fitted with the 3.5 V8 and the LT95 box out of an RRC. I bought another LT95 box (the duff one) and that came complete with bell housing but also this adapter plate. The duff box also came out of an RRC but that vehicle was fitted with a different engine hence it needed this plate. So I know it will fit the LT95 bell housing (although there was a chunk chopped out of the one I received  but it's what engine it fits that I need to know!

Mazda is a thought, any idea which engine is a popular swap? Maybe I can look for swap kits and see if they look similar?
