I have phoned land Rover and they have told me £100 for a new Key & Fob thing...

I have followed the instructions and the posts that people have posted on here. I can get into the car using the actual key and start the engine no problem but the open/close buttons do Sweet FA, the light on the close seems to work better than the open light, I have fitted new batteries so I assume a new key is needed?
I do have a couple of spares that the lights work as I would think they should so can you flash the chip inside? I can do this with Vauxhalls so assume something similar with Land Rover...
Is there anyone on here that can do this??

Thanks
Daz:)

Try holding lock on the fob whilst locking the door

I was getting "Engine Disabled" earlier today after putting new batteries in the fob. So I spent 2 bloody hours messing with it

I did the turn to lock and hold the lock button on the fob, then turn to open and hold the open button.. to no avail... after all that time I noticed :D that I needed to hold the open button down with another key to make the red light illuminate... so tried the whole process again using a key to press the open button.. I was then able to start the car as the "Engine Disabled" had gone. But, I can still only open and lock the car with the key and not the fob...

Sounds a bit like the fob is just worn out. You can get refurb kits which is basically just the rubber buttons. It may help as the new ones will be thicker and help press the contact down firmer/further. Failing that, it sounds as though you do need a new fob. You can't flash the chip or do anything with them. Only answer is a new one from Land Rover. DON'T believe any tales you see on Ebay. The new keys are coded in Germany for your particular car and CANNOT be recoded. They become permanently matched to the BeCM (body ECU) of that car.
