cambelt???

im planning to do the cambelt on my m reg 300tdi but im unsure of this modified cambelt thing?

how do i know if mine has the modified cambelt on it and is the belt as standard if its modified or not?

its on 96k and it appears genuine millage and it seems all tensioners are good and the seal around the front cover looks like its not to old

Signs of the belt kit being needed are the belt has rubbed through on the front timing cover reducing the width of the belt.
Two types of kit one has pulleys, other kit lot dearer and has pulleys, timing housing and injector pump support brackets.
I would hazard a guess and say most if not all have been done by now.
But you will soon tell when cover removed.

you only need to have guides on crank pulley as later rather than guides on tensioner as earlier ,it would havent have lived that long if timing case was out or ulled out of line by pump bracket

so basically if my tensioners are ok still then just chuck a belt on it and the front cover looks much newer than the rest of the engine area so id agree it was done and it had been very well looked after before the last divvy owner had it

you do want crank puleey to have guides on it if it has its been done
