reet! was wondering why she has been a bag of ****e for the past month or so, so while there was a topic on cleaning intercoolers i decided i would try it myself but while i was there clean all hoses out and inlet manifold aswell as the job might as well be done properly, 15 mins later we have this....................... whats the best way to clean it all?? i have an endless supply of TFR that i can leave it to soak in, what yer wreckon??? my main concern was the rubber pipework and the aluminium????

next thing is while i was doing the job and removed inlet manifold and intercooler i went to remove the pipe work and found this from the air filter to the turbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.................

as you can see its has a massive split right before it enters the turbo, i dont think i done it when i disturbed it, i have inspected the blades on the turbo and they all seem nice and crisp but its all a bit gunky,
am i ok to spray some carb cleaner into the turbo to clean it up a bit????
what would this have been causing running wise with the split in the pipe???
can i get a replacement pipe? if not whats the best way to repair it???
any info on the job would be much appreciated chaps.
over and out (to get even more **** high in grime)!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive got one of those pipes kicking around on the floor of me unit, not split like that one though.

you there tomorow? ill have ter come get it with the stalks aswell, just been mad busy hence i aint been in touch, yer got any though on spraying some carb cleaner in the turbo barry????

yep will be there from noon as i have physio in mornin, give us a bell first or text.

carb or brake cleaner will do it, but make sure that the stuff has evaporated afor startin it.

The other you might want to try is to take the pipe off the wastegate and get a high pressure line to clean it and take the clip off and give a clean.

Mine was smoking badly and I thought the head or the turbo might be on its way butwas suggested to do this and hey presto it works!!

Remember that the engine breather pipe feeds oily fumes into the inlet just before the turbo compressor stage, and so the impeller will always appear oily.

Don't worrry about it.

hiya charles, it wasnt off an oily breather it was like proper ****y gunk where i think its been sucking in crap from the split in the pipe from the air filter just before the turbo, i wasnt aware of how long its been like this as it was underneath. anything else you can think of to clean out while am doing this charles? cheers mate.
craig.

alright daza, i see yer lurking around!!!!!! inlet manifold was a 2 min job mate, 8mm for the dip stick bracket, 2x13mm and 2x10mm to take it off plus disconnect a pipe and hey presto mate!

right thanks to stiggy its back in action, oh by the way if yer plan on doing it chaps the inlet gasket is shared with the exhaust gasket so manifold off if yer wanna do it properly,
dint get none of this knocking noise people spoke about when cleaning out the intercooler,
results: power delivery is a hell of alot smoother, cruising 50- 70 pulls like a train again, well worth it in my opinion.

nothing mate, took it fer a 20 mile spin today and nothing at all, since a few people have metioned the clangin when it starts back up and whistling i dont know if its a good or bad thing on my behalf lol

its not a - "friggs sake wot the f**cks up wi the shed now" sort of noise  just want to know what it is, i'll do the inlet when i get a bit of time and see what happens :)

have yer had yer bonnet up daza? rev it from under the bonnet and locate the noise if yer can, i have siliconed all my pipes up now as i have my snorkel to fit so made sure everything is sealed up properly.

i think yer need ter thank me fer that pipe,

yer the fooking thing split same as my old one when i fitted it :D
rubber inside never though so i just sealed it from the ouside. think that cotton outer must have a life span on it or somthing.
cheers yella!
