I have a request of anyone who has raised the boost on their 200 or 300tdi, just got round to doing this on mine and have now got 1.3 bar at the wastegate actuator, however I've been fiddling with the fuel pump for a while now trying to find a correct setting with no joy! The landy doesn't feel any quicker than before, and I've done a fair few 'performance' enhancing jobs with seemingly little to no effect. Basically what I want are your fuel pump settings if you're running the same or similar boost levels to myself, so I can give them a try and see what works out.

Right, what I've done and got now:

Turbo wastegate actuator shortened to give 1.3 bar boost.
New bearmach turbo and intercooler hoses fitted.
Intercooler and inlet manifold both flushed and cleaned out.
New (standard) air & fuel filter fitted.
De-cat downpipe fitted with both standard silencers.
Fuel pump smoke screw wound in 1.5 turns.
Fuel pump diaphragm rotated approx 45 degrees.

Haven't touched the star wheel or any external adjustments on the pump yet, should I have?

Before you go with the pump and boost, have you replaced the fuel filter, lift pump, and emptied the sedimentor ( if fitted ).

TBH, i've always tweaked the diaphragm appx 45 deg, and not had to do much else - and most of the engines i've done are on highish mileage..... good results on them all.

Although Mucky is a bit iffy ATM, but i've still not got round to hoses and wastegate actuator ( too feckin cold ).

I found I didn't get any benefit tweaking the turbo boost .. numbers looked better but worse fuel consumption for no power gains.

Like DirtyRhino all mine needed was the diaphragm moving a bit, maybe about 45 degrees, as he says, can't really remember. Smoke and fuel settings didn't need changing .. mine is also de-egr'd, no centre silencer, de-cat etc too .. ;)

I found a few tweeks of the diaphragm and the screw on top of the housing made a fair bit of difference to my 200tdi. Much better at low revs. Doing this kind of "no cost" stuff you need to be aware that you can raise the exhaust gas temperature significantly and this can lead to problems that will end up costing money.

1.3bar boost is also a bit high IMO...

like mentioned above, make sure you are able to read EGT numbers before tweaking around..especially on the fueling
you might just blow up the whole thing.

hope you come right.

Have got it sorted now was just a case of making lots of little adjustments until I got it running perfect. I've got a straight through decat pipe and will be replacing the midbox with a straight through pipe as well so keep the EGT down. Done plenty of research and have found people who have run up to 1.6 bar for thousands of miles with no problems, admittedly that was with a full stainless exhaust and larger intercooler though.
