Not really ... I always set a channel for the group I lead when we get to the start point. Which channel depends on local conditions and how 'noisy' the airwaves are. In practice it can be almost any channel as there are so few people using CB these days ..

I just work whichever channel the group is using , some guys up here are using the PMR 446 radios which are quite good for close range comms .

By the prices AM rigs sell for on fleabay me thinks there still is .
