buying an old disco k,or L reg what probs do i look for

hi im looking around to buy an old disco and being that ive never had any 4x4 before thought i should ask you folks for advice ,i need to know what to look out for are there any realy bad spots for rust and any bad problems like under the vehicle. any help would be great . ty

Watch out for badly rusted chassis parts, outriggers etc...

There are other posts on here asking the same question, search and you shall find. Saves typing it all out again.

As above plus rusty body shell, look inside the door openings esp rear door. Dodgy electrics, crunchy gearbox lots of them have probs with synchromesh, also clunkiness in the drive train. Damage from offroading. rotten mudflap brackets + anything else you might look for on an old car that an unscrupulous seller might not want to draw your attention to.

i have a k reg disco and for its years its in good nick, bit of rust but nothing major. it is a bit clunky though on changing gear but all in all a good workhorse

Couldn't agree more. Had one meself for 2 years without any major probs. Bloody good value for what they cost these days
