Hi Guys

Can a member tell me if the black rubbing strip on the top of my bumper be removed? Only I have some rust that I want to remove this spring.

My vehicle is a Discovery ES 1995.

As usual any advice regarding removing the strip would be much appreciated.

Best regards

What rubbing strip? Don't think mine has one or ever had one.

Hi

there is a black hard plastic plate with large dimple effect on the rear bumper just below the tailgate door handle, I presume it is there to protect the bumper if you stand on it when loading the roof? Or getting things in and out of the boot.

I don't know the correct name for it?

I'm with you now. It's just a tread plate i think for you to stand on the bumper, also helps if you have a rear door ladder as a step.
Yes you can take it off, you simply have to prise out the button type fixings that hold it in place.
Chances are you will need new fixings though.

Hi

Thank you for the reply, I will have a look over the weekend, I can probably get spares from LR Supermarket, I'm in Warrington, it's only up the road, that's a great help as I can now make a start on it.

I am ever so obliged for that, because I was not sure it came off, tread plate sounds right to me.

Thanks
