Having stripped my Landy down to chassis and bulkhead to find out that the vehicle was sold as refurbished chassis and Bulkhead etc, including engine, which was a joke.
Had to buy myself a chassis but now looking for a Series 2 Bulkhead, does anyone know of a decent recon or used, dont really want to buy new tbh, this baby is costing me more than my kids hahaha
I know I can buy new but its not only not original but bl**dy expensive and already spent a fortune on panels and engine work

Any advice greatly appreciated

For a 65ish year old bulkhead that is not at all bad. Door pillars have been done before as those are series 3 type. Better because they have clips for the wing bolts not captive [ usually for ever ]nuts, different but can not be seen once the wing is on. They can be replaced again. Foot well parts available that even have original type pressed shapes in them.

Hi Thanks everyone for the replies much appreciated, as I am not a great welder and precision is important, do you know anyone in Hampshire area/West London area that can restore my bulkhead.

There are lots in the North but wanted someone in the above areas, Landy in Lymington and I work in London so anywhere between the two would be great.

It's quite a few hours work. Anyone good will be charging £30+ per hour, so it could be pricey.

If I was doing it:

I'd start by getting it blasted, identify what's really bad.

Unpick the spot welds. Day? Jig it up, then weld. Day?

Blast again, and hot zinc followed by epoxy primer.

Cost that up and compare with new.

I agree with the others here that bulkhead is ok. Most of it will be spot welds and most folk even a novice can spot weld. Preparation is key, spend the money on welding clamps, angle magnets and give it a go. If you can competently break down a Land Rover as you have in the images, and I assume you can put it back together, then you’ll have no issues. Besides, that is an original part of the car. Good luck and keep posting.

Red lead primer was the rust preventer of choice years ago, my car is still covered in the stuff, but I've probably killed 1000 innocent babies just by mentioning the name!!
There's a few high zinc epoxies that are also very good now
