Hi All

Lots of work to do this weekend - replacing floor panels/footwells and rebuilding drivers door after some knackerjack reversed a Honda Civic into it.

While checking the sills etc, and having a general nose about the chassis before the MOT in 10 days, I noticed the drivers side bulkhead outrigger has a rusted hole in the top and at the front, as badly shown in the picture below...

My question is.....

Can I plate this over with some seam welded plates, or should I replace the whole outrigger...

The rest of the chassis seems sound, and the opposite outrigger has next to no rust on it at all, which leads me to believe it was replaced before I bought her...

Cheers

Mick

Very true..... Could be a plan then.

I'm more concerned with just getting it through an MOT for now, but long term I need to have a good look at the chassis and give it a thorough de-gunging and repair any issues.

Funnily enough, it looks like that's exactly what has been used in the past.

The whole thing has cracked its length now - new outrigger has been ordered, and will be fitted this weekend...

How did you get on?

Did you manage to get the old one off and the new one back on without needing to lift the body?

I've one of these to do and I'm not looking forward to it!

Thanks
Tom
