Ta. Someone who doesn't think I'm an idiot! Although we haven't met yet - you might change your mind.
Planning on welding up around the footbox / A pillar and then working upwards from there. Tape all of the obvious holes, spray in Comma degreaser, leave until bored, flush. Then I'll find all of the holes I haven't taped. Follow up with the acid, flush and dry (mainly by waiting for summer and mending gearboxes). Build dam and fill up to bottom of rot with polyester resin. Low catalyst content for a no-hot, non expanding fill. Ram a load of chopped strand mat in and fill to the top with more resin. CSM not really necessary, but might as well. Sand off and paint. That lip under the windscreen is coming off anyway because it's in the way of my dashboard redesign. So I'll probably cut a slot right along the top of the b/head for easy access.
Good idea with the paint it all with resin. I was going to bitumen it, since it costs about 2p a Gallon, but I'll do the resin, also some CSM becuse it's a pretty weak structure as far as supporting the removable floor panels, and then bitumen too.
Chassis fill - would work just as well, but I have the advantage of filling from the top, and the only way you could be sure of a totally filled chassis would be to stand it up vertically - any voids would probably just become mega moisture traps. All of the cold steel removing the heat from the small voids would be even worse than what we already have. I'd think that pouring a Gallon of old sump oil into the rails and allowing momentum do do it's stuff in sloshing it around would be easier.
