bulbs and blown fuses

two things guys, firstly, anyone know what type of bulbs i need for an 85 defender speedo & clocks as none of mine work at the mo? and also any pointers to an electrical problem i have. in the fuse board, left hand bank, top fuse, the one for the headlamp flash/horn/interior light, keeps blowing - in fact i cannot even put a fuse in it - it just blows. obviously an electrical short somewhere, it has got a new headlamp on/off/dip/indicator switch on it which has not long been fitted.
any other places i should be looking

sounds like youre right with a short in wiring, to help pinpopint where, if you disconnect each of the items put new fuse in then reconnect one at a time to see if fuse blows then you should find the problem circuit,

FFS..........Get yerself a multi meter It'll work out cheaper than fuses. If yer take one of the bulbs to your local car parts shop they'll have em there nowt special, think there a quid each though.

Are there not TWO variations of that light switch stalk?

I had a similar problem in my Def90 because the wrong replacement was fitted.

But it sounds a lot like a wiring short.
