Hi everyone,

my name is Bastian, I am from Berlin, Germany. I spend a good share of my time on my parents' farm where we have a fully equipped metal and woodworking shop.

I have just got myself a beautiful Defender TD5, built in 2005 with 75,000 miles on it. I started throwing out all the seats today and my plan is to turn my Defender into a camper that will take me all the way down to South Africa and through the vast lands of mother Russia. ;-)

First of all he's gonna get a top pop roof, a water tank in the left back wheel house, a second battery and solar system and some nice furniture. I also want to have some special features like a couch-like area on the roof rack with a small bush cinema. ;-)

I'm really looking forward to keep you posted on my progress and get your advice on all sorts of things I feel uncertain about.

I'm really happy to finally be part of the land rover family! :)

Bastian

There's a facebook group - Landrover Campers, which is worth joining.

If, by chance, youre near the uk in September, the "Adventure Overland Show" is well worth going to.

Its too late now, obviously, but people always go for station waggons for campers - id always assume a van would be a better option, however, i guess, there may be licence issues (car vs commercial vehical etc)

Sketchup is a good, useful, tool for planning camper builds. Its learning curve is surprisingly short.
