hi
i am looking to fit a Brownchurch roof rack to my 90 defender and a second hand 110 version has come up near me which is quite handy as i was looking to purchase an extended version for my 90 anyway and since Brownchurch has ceased trading this seems my only option to convert a 110 rack.(thats if its roughly the same size)
Question is can anyone tell me the actual length of the 110 version am im hoping it would roughly the same size as the 90 ext version would have been..

The one for sale is the H/D version im guessing as it has the front and rear extra stabilizer bars going to the lower body and 12 feet going to the gutter.(6 Each side)
My intention was to cut off the feet overhanging the front and maybe move them to the available space if any towards the center more, then change the angle of the front supporting bar or replace with a new longer one if needed to reach back down to the screen brackets where its supposed to mount.

Does this sound plausible..

you would be better posting this in the defender section rather than the for sale section, maybe @blue beasty would be kind enough to move it for you.

If I remember I will measure mine for you in the morning as I have the 110 HD version fitted to mine, although it did not come with the extra stabalising bars so I do not have them.
The only thing I can say that you would need to look at and think about is the front stabalising bar comes forward at an angle and the attachment on the roof rack is a piece of webbing between the rack and the first upright so you would need to redesign this attachment point. I will try and get a photo of what I mean in the morning.

As an aside I did not realise brownchurch had ceased trading when did that happen?

Brownchurch are still trading, at least the Brownchurch name is. I purchased some more gutter clamps from them in September. They are much smaller now so might not be manufacturing roof racks and just selling off what they have.

The total length of the 110 had roof rack from brown church is: 282cm

here is the front bracket I mentioned that would need a redesign to face backwards if you were going to use it as a support on an extended 90 conversion:

many thanks for all your reply's

am just awaiting for the right one to come along as itseems Brownchurch did quite a range of similar racks but with the feet in different locations
dependent on weather they were H/D type or a one off for whatever reason
