Hi guys,

My cam belt broke on my 2.5 15j engine on the m1. I've taken the rockers of and found 4 bent push rods.
Someones told me that the pushrods take the damage an that I shouldn't have to take the head of as valves should be ok? How true is this?

The really annoying thing is it had a new belt 3000 miles ago by the last owner but that was 3 years ago

No bother, I was doing 80 when my belt snapped, replaced ALL the push rods even although only 5 were visibly bent, new belt and had it back on the motorway within 23hours!

The valve faces are parallel to the piston head, so the valves take the force up pass it through the rockers and usually bend the rods, sometimes break the rockers, if your rockers are all OK then replace the rods and belt and away you go.
