Well you should eat them! We like to let them age by the roadside for at least two weeks, especially if it's just been a mild 'clip' that's killed them. 'Longer lain, lusher flavour'. That's what we say up here.

Absolutely! The worse the infection the better the meat. Starves the animal of oxygen, creates a similar effect to veal. Though I don't support farm veal production.
 
Actually, I do know what a butler is. :oops: Think I saw one by the croft one night, though it might have been a badger.
Neither butlers nor badgers up here can drive yet. Just shows how far behind civilised society we are up here. Apparently, Australia is 20 yrs behind us 'Up North'. Good heavens!

After some numpty (yes,me) dropped and smashed the front passenger door glass last weekend ( I was trying to fit a new regulator) I needed some new glass. A quick phone call to my local Landy part suppliers revealed they had a pane in stock, I gave them the part number and noted that it ought to be 5mm, green tinted. I collected said glass and proceeded to fit it on Tuesday night with the aid of a couple of work lights. After lots of faffing about with cold hands, I wound the new glass up in the frame. Well, the two top corners were so rounded ( the radius, shall we say ), that I could fit my finger between the glass and the square frame ( imagine round peg in a square hole ).
So, a bit frustrated, I took the glass back and the guys there apologised on Britpart's behalf and promised to order a new pane the next day. No problem, I said, not their fault. Confirmed the part number with them and clarified 5mm, green tinted.
Went to collect the replacement glass a couple of days later. As soon as I physically picked it up it felt too light, "this is light", I said, "is it definitely 5mm?", ( the part number suggested it was ). I offered to get my digital verniers out of the Landy, but the guy there had a set to hand, "about 4.8 ish" he said, after a bit of pausing. That was close enough for me and we came to the conclusion that modern glass is not as dense as the original.
Got around to fitting it today and out of curiosity I put my verniers to it and, you've guessed it, no way near 5mm.
It averaged 3.9 across the pane, 4.05 was the highest reading I managed. Grrr....
I'm not so annoyed that the glass is wrong, again, as it fitted ok ( although I had to mastic the bottom rubber onto it as it was too loose ), even though all the felt channels I bought were for 5mm glass. I'm more pi**ed of with the bloke in the shop who measured it. In hindsight, I could tell he knew it wasn't right, but I trusted him.
I plan to pop back tomorrow and have a word, is this the right thing to do? I've used them many times in the past and plan on using them again, but this annoyed me a bit.

Oh, Britpart glass is either the wrong shape or labelled as the wrong thickness.
