I have wrote about similiar problems before about the 2.5td diesel engine having trouble with oil going into air filter cos engine breathing rather heavy! And going thru rear crank oil seals 2 done now! so before doing another!
I decided to run a compression test on engine and found no 4 cylinder down on pressure but it was still within landrover tolerances,so did test by putting a small amount of oil thru heater plug hole(after taking heater plug out obviously) in a tube to get round piston and withdrew pipe and tested again.
compresion back up near other so result of test piston ring split causeing loss of compression! Not too surenow whether too rip engine out again to replace piston ring or put up with it cos it still within land rover tolerances!
Or do i leave as engine runs sweet enough just drips oil abit(show me a landy what doesn't lol !
any views welcome:)
