Hi i after fitting the snorkel i need to sort out breathers. Done a lot of searching on here about which kit or diy. Would my axles be push fit or ball valve type fittings? it seems more expensive to build your own which seems odd as people reckon they can do it for 20quid.

What exactly would i need, i there actually a fuel tank breather as kits dont include one?

surely it is better to replace everything right to the axle rather than extend the 25 year old tubes.

Any info on what i need or where to get it would be greatly appreciated.

Is one pipe up the snorkel sufficient?

Thanks
Rich

You will need the following:

front and rear axle breather
gearbox breather
transfer box breather
timing cover breather
8mm tubing
2 x screw in elbows for the axles
1 x screw in elbow for the timing cover (will need to drill and tap the pump cover plate on the front)
2 x 8mm female-female push fit couplings for the breathers fitted to the boxes, trim the ends of existing breathers to make a neat job before fitting
1 x 6 way manifold to connect them all together and then run the last one up the snorkel
2 x wading plugs, one for the bell housing, 1 for the timing cover

You will generally get all this in a kit on eBay for about £20. Some people will want to replace the breather elbows on the boxes as well but this is a fiddly job so its easier to just extend the existing breather. You can just extend the axle ones as well but as they are so easy to get to its a better job to just replace the elbows. Some people use a smaller manifold and have more than 1 pipe going up the snorkel, its personal choice, 1 pipe is neater, more than 1 pipe is less of a restriction and in theory makes less suction at the seals. DO NOT put the breather pipe into the actual snorkel head, the snorkel head has air rushing through it, this will creat suction in the breathers and if standing in water will create negative pressure inside the voids enhancing the chances of water getting past the seals. DO NOT put the breathers insode the vehicle, EP90 and the other oils are not nice smelling and will give you headaches as you drive.

Did mine for £25 inc postage.

Trying to find the website soon as i do ill post it up.

Got 25 meters of tube for £11 better than £70 odd for a kit from paddocks etc.

Thanks guys loads of info there cheers. Most the manifolds on ebay take 6mm connectors where can you get larger ones?. Is there a fuel breather or not? Mine has the 2.5td engine but at some point has been turned back to a n/a.found 30m of pipe for about 20 quid. Prob enough to do 2 trucks!

Cheers
