When i brake, my dashboard all lights up and my external lights come on.

When you say all, do you mean every light on the dash? Or 3 of them, hdc, hdc warning, brake warning. When this happens and you take your foot orf the brake pedal, do they all go back to normal how it was before? Do the windscreen wipers, reverse lights un indicators still work?

have you changed your brake light bulbs on the rear bumper,you could have fitted the wrong type of bulb as this happened to me .when i pressed the brake peddle the headlights came on...
Make sure that you have the bulbs in properly, if you get them in wrong, this can happen.
