brakes

Hi
Have just bought my first disco and am am very pleased, got it cheap due to needing a service and cambelt done. I just drove it and when i applied the brakes it made a sucking sound, not sure what it is as I am at work and can't take a look but has anyone got any ideas

Sucking sound as defined as:

1.) Small child noisily finishing off a McSlurry through a bendy straw?

or

2.) $10 Vegas hooker sucking an elephant through a garden hose?

or

3.) Dyson vacuum cleaner with an over full dust bucket?

Where did the 'sucking noise' come from?

basically as i put the pedal down and released it I would say it was like pumping up and airped witha footpump

How well does it brake? Do you need to press seriously hard to stop the beast or are they reasonably light?

If you've got to use a lot of effort then the servo is a likely candidate - if not I've got no idea without hearing/seeing it properly.

They feel ok, to be honest if I slam on the brakes the wheels do lock up so brakes are working

have got service, cambelt and MOT Friday so will find out for sure then
