Have a problem with my Disco 1 brakes. After replacing calipers an discs, sometimes the pedal is solid when brake, no stopping power but feels as though ABS is on and other times brakes are great. ABS light has been on for years. Any thoughts please

in what way does it feel like abs ,pedal pulsing ?is the servo working ,you can check by holding foot hard on the brake pedal then start engine ,pedal should sink slightly, pulsing could be disc out of alignment or wheel bearing

Thanks, checked the servo both in the way you suggest and taking the pipe off. It is working OK and makes no difference to the solid pedal. The feeling on the pedal when hard is a grating similar to that when the ABS kicks in but no stopping. ABS light is probably on because of a mid aligned sensor but it still worked when the wheels skidded.

Had tried that but got an engine warning light flashing and replaced it. Will give it a go tomorrow thanks and let you know what happens. Cheers thanks

Tried removing the fuse and engine warning light flashed but it seems to have stopped the braking problem. Assume warning light must reference the fuse removal but don't think the mot people will be impressed
