Help please folks

I had this just after I bought the car, took it to a 3rd party garage, who stripped cleaned tested the brakes etc.

The took the lips off the discs, cleaned calipers etc.

The problem only occured when starting to brake at less than 20 mph and when applying the brakes hard.

The brakes function fine, do not pull to one side, no wheel wobble etc etc

Noticed today that it is now occuring all the time at low speed 30 mph and below......

It will be going to a grage next week, so please no comments like take it to a garage ASAP.

I just want to get an idea if anyone else has aver had this problem, or know what it may be? Should I just bite the bullet and go for new discs and pads?

Cheers

Definately not the ABS..... The noise is concerning, but everything works ok and has been validated by the mechanic.

However whenever something makes an unexpected noise,it still gets you wondering

Garage had the rear brakes appart last week and they were fine...

Definately from the front, the noise is quite easy to pinpoint in terms of front to back

Bite the bullet!! you dont have to spend a fortune ontop of the range discs,Youve already forked out stupid money to have them ground down.I'm not going all the way out to the car to check haynes, but theres only a few mill in the diference between new and replace.

This is the last place you will be advised to take it to a garage. You might get advice on how to fix stuff.
Get new discs ,pads, clean the caliper piston and change the brake fluid all round.Or get someone to do it for you pay for his time and learn fugk all.

A while back we had a similar problem, soon after changing brake pads.

We had a new set of oem pads and on and so we assumed they were the culprits. a few weeks later, we picked up a set of genuine parts brake pads and went to swap 'em over.

I noticed two things - firstly they were absolutely identical and secondly they were not symmetrical. They were handed left and right but also inner and outer. The penny dropped.... They had been fitted wrong - both the inners on one side and both the outers on the other.

Worth a check...

I had exactly the same issue - low speed grindy front brakes. Sounded like a bit of grit had got between pad and disk. KwikFart gave them a £10 cleanup (rust off, edge clean etc) which lasted for a little while but the noise soon came back. Service chap said the disks were at minimum level though the pads were ok. Decided to replace the 2 disks 4 pads (Ferodo) which cost me £110 thanks to a family friends' garage. Yes, I got them fitted so I "learnt **** all" but at least I'll stop safely and live to tell the tale.

I'd say get 'em swapped out mate. You'll feel so much more confident for doing so.
