Brake weirdness!

Piling down the A1 yesterday when all of a sudden my 2.0L seems to start braking itself, complete with noise of the ABS (or TC) working - not anchors on, just firm-ish. I pulls off the carriageway and goes for the brake pedal to stop properly and no brakes, just a stiff pedal kicking back as if the ABS is working. Have been running around for a while with the 3 amigos lit, but suffered no problems up to this happening. Any ideas anyone?

It sounds as if the ABS thinks that the brake pedal is being pressed and as the 4 ABS wheel speed sensors are not showing any reduction in road speed things are getting a bit confused.

I would check brake pedal switches and wiring back to ABS very carefully.

Aye, sounds like it got it's knickers in a twist - not nice at 80 in traffic! Think i'll get it booked into an indie garage, aint worth the risk with brakes.
