brake shoes

need a bit of help! got a swb s3 and need some pic of how the brake shoes go on the front and back axles, dont know how the springs go

Depends on if it's pre or post 1980. Pre= 10 inch all round. Post 11 inch front, 10 inch back. Best bet is get yourself either a LR workshop manual or a Haynes book. Got both of mine on ebay.

amski, here is a few pic's hope you find em usefull. Basicly, bottom spring goes streight across from shoe to shoe in the holes as shown. The top spring goes from shoe to back plate.

If you look at the spring first you will see there is a long end and a short and. There is a recess in the pin on one of the shoes.

The pin is contacted by the adjuster to adgust the brakes but the long end of the spring goes into the recess on the end.

The long section of the spring is then positioned behind the adjuster so that the coil of the spring does not touch it.

If you look at the back plate you will see another pin with a recess in the end.

The short end of the spring is stretched onto this pin so that it sits in the recess.

just wondering if this is right! just fitted new shoes and when i put the drum and wheel back on the wheel turns forward ok but jamms when turning backwards, surely that cant be right! do anyone know what that could be??
